FAQ
Online payments, explained plainly
What does an e-commerce payment system include?
The whole process for a customer to choose products or services on your website and for your business to accept card payments, including the website and its shopping pages.
Can a third party handle the payment page?
Yes. Your site can redirect customers to a PCI DSS compliant third party’s payment page, or show that provider’s payment form inside your page. In that setup, your business never has access to the card data.
What is tokenization?
Replacing the card number with a stand-in value. Tokens can be used for refunds, voids and recurring billing when the card isn’t present, and they are useless to a criminal if stolen.
What are the common online threats?
Phishing emails that carry malware, weak or default passwords, and outdated software with unpatched flaws are among the common causes of payment data theft.
