FAQ

Professional liability, explained plainly

What is professional liability insurance?

Also called errors and omissions (E&O) insurance, it covers claims by customers, clients or patients that the business’s failure to perform a job properly injured them.

Which businesses need it?

Businesses whose work involves giving advice, making recommendations, designing things, providing physical care or representing the needs of others.

What does it pay for?

Any judgment the business is legally liable for, up to the policy limit, plus legal defense costs, even when there has been no wrongdoing.

How is it different from general liability?

General liability covers injury or property damage tied to your premises, products and completed work. Professional liability covers claims that the service or advice itself was done wrong.
