FAQ
Working capital, explained plainly
What is working capital financing?
Funding for a business’s day-to-day operations, such as recurring operating costs, inventory and the gaps created by seasonal or cyclical cash flow.
Which options can fund working capital?
Common ones include a line of credit, a term loan and invoice factoring. Each works differently, and the right fit depends on how your business earns and spends.
Line of credit or term loan?
A line of credit lets you draw as needed up to a limit, which suits recurring costs and seasonal swings. A term loan gives you a set amount up front, repaid over time, and bank term loans usually offer larger amounts and longer terms.
Can an SBA loan be used for working capital?
Yes. Working capital is one of the uses of an SBA 7(a) loan. The maximum 7(a) loan amount is $5 million.
What do I need to start a request?
Your business name, your name, a ZIP code and an email or phone number, plus a few quick answers, such as the amount, the kind of business and how long it has been operating. We don’t ask for Social Security numbers or run a credit check through the form.
