FAQ
Small business insurance, explained plainly
Do I need workers’ comp with only one employee?
California law requires employers to have workers’ compensation insurance, even if they have only one employee.
What is a business owner’s policy?
A combined policy for small businesses that covers property, general liability and business interruption. It suits small main street businesses such as hardware stores, barbershops and accountants’ offices.
What does general liability cover?
A commercial general liability policy has three main parts: premises liability, products liability and completed operations.
Does general liability cover my business vehicles?
No, a general liability policy excludes automobiles. Commercial auto insurance covers liability from vehicles used in your business, and California’s minimum liability limits apply to commercial and fleet vehicles too.
